Tuscany has outdoor events all year round but many are during the summer. They have festivals that are dedicated to their local products or specialties such as truffles or wine. And when these things come into season they celebrate. One of these festivals is the “Bravio delle Botti” which is a race between 8 districts of the town. This is a very challenging race that will be an event not to miss. Two contestants together push heavy wooden wine barrels down narrow streets to the finish line. This event goes back all the way to the 14th century but was originally done on horseback. The day of the race starts with ceremonies and events taking place with a costume parade of knights and noblemen in beautiful costumes. This race and ceremonial parades is one of the best Tuscan events and an experience you will enjoy and not want to miss while here.

Tuscany is home to some of the most beautiful villages and Medieval fairs. The fairs offer animated characters in costumes depicting historical characters, storytellers, and even musicians. All the citizens participate in this event by dressing up in medieval attire reenacting Medieval life. They offer entertaining shows or activities for children so they can learn in a fun setting about the historical Medieval times. They set up tables with the various types of trade that was practiced back then like blacksmith or candle making. This event for the whole family is one you surely don’t want to miss when you’re in Tuscany.

If barrel racing and Medieval costume fairs are not what you are looking for in Tuscany then there is plenty more to see. Art shows, fireworks, festivals, musicals, and food galore; all of these things and so much more make up the best outside Tuscan events.
